Sossusvlei Wilderness Camp

Sossusvlei Wilderness Camp is situated in one of the most remarkable places in the Namib Desert: adjacent to the massive Sossusvlei dunes that rise dramatically more than 300m above the surrounding plains, and surrounded by rugged, ancient volcanic mountains.

The camp itself is built close to the top of a mountain, providing spectacular vistas of the desert. The superbly appointed accommodation units all have panoramic views of the surrounding plains and dunes in the distance. Guests can enjoy sundowners or dinner under the stars on the deck, while breakfasts are sometimes served under camel thorn acacias amongst the dunes. The lodge offers easy access to Sossusvlei as well as privacy and exclusivity.

The camp offers:

  • Nine double chalets, each with a plunge pool on a raised wooden deck;
  • The main area is under thatch, with an outdoor deck; and
  • Stargazing platform with telescope for viewing the clear African night skies.

Activities:

  • Early morning excursions to the dunes and Sossusvlei;
  • Awe-inspiring ballooning safaris are optional (at extra cost);
  • Experienced guides bring the desert to life during nature drives and walks; and
  • Night drives produce sightings of nocturnal species such as cape fox, aardwolf, black-backed jackals and bat-eared foxes.
