Siyaphambili Leatherwork (Emakhuzeni)

Siyaphambili Leatherware is part of Emakhuzeni Development and Training, which started in 1995.  It was formed by ex-miners who were unemployed and residents of Utrecht, a town within a game park with no other industries.

Siyaphambili tans the skins and hides that Balele Game Reserve provides them with.  They then make traditional clothing, bags and shoes as well as western clothing with the tanned leather. They would very much like to obtain industrial machines and premises of their own so that their business can become more sustainable.
