Maraisdal

Mariasdal is a working dairy farm on the banks of the Sonderend River, where 150 Jersey cows are milked from irrigated pastures every day. 

The atmosphere at a private camping site on the riverbank with ablutions and electricity brings peace to the soul and the morning call of a resident pair of fish eagles adds authenticity to the Overberg experience. Canoes and small fishing boats are available.

With his expert knowledge of the fynbos plants, birds and animals of the area, Wicus offers his services as a photographic guide and instructor in the Overberg, and conducts regular photographic courses. There is a photographic gallery and an extensive library with 60 000 slides on the farm, where audio-visual presentations can be arranged.
