This independent small industry started in February 1996 when, after completing a needlework-training course at the Rinic Training Centre in Tweeling, eight women pooled their resources to buy materials.
At first only hand knitted garments were produced, but now the range includes machine knitted garments and school jerseys. One of the project’s members is responsible for marketing its wares within local communities and business centres and the project was initiated to provide jobs for its members, who were previously unemployed.
