Die Blou Huis
Die Blou Huis found its name from Anna’s love of the colour blue – and the majority of the things in the house are painted blue.
Two people can be accommodated in this neat, comfortable home. The family welcomes visitors, and want to share their history and chat about their culture. A family song is available ‘on request’. The experience includes being woken up in the morning by the chickens, learning how to milk a cow and seeing the wonderful organic vegetable garden. The onions, beetroot, cabbage, potatoes and butternut can all be enjoyed for dinner – choose your own vegetables and Anna will cook them for you.
Food at Die Blouhuis is traditional. Breakfast includes mealie meal pap with fresh cow’s milk. Dinner could include curry and rice, bean soup and delicious 'national pudding' (jam rolls). Soda bread and roosterkoek are served fresh, and Anna’s watermelon jam is a speciality.
