Coconut Bay Resort
Coconut Bay offers a range of accommodation and a restaurant that serves all meals.
There are five Beachfront self-catering chalets with a beautiful view onto a private beach. These are bricked chalets, with air-conditioning and are spacious enough for a family.
There are also five seaview chalets that are located further back, but also have spectacular views of the sea.
The four rondavels are smaller, but include the following:
- Two bedrooms, equipped for four people;
- Fully furnished;
- Equipped with cutlery and crockery;
- Two-plate gas stove and freezer;
- Hot water;
- Rooms serviced daily;
- Palm thatched parking spaces;
- Braai (barbeque) facility.
- There are also three newly built casitas, secluded yet close to amenities. Casitas are traditional buildings, made out of natural materials such as reed and wood.
These casitas offer:
- En-suite bathrooms;
- Fully furnished;
- No kitchen (close to restaurant);
- Hot water;
- Rooms serviced daily;
- Palm thatched parking spaces; and
- Veranda.
For campers, there are thirty spacious campsites right in the heart of Coconut Bay, under the shade of the coconut palms that give the resort its name. Most sites are shaded with a palm thatch covering and three sites have a palm thatch lapa.
- Each site is 10m X 12m;
- Clean ablutions;
- Plug points at each site;
- Water tap close by; and
- Staff can help with cleaning and laundry (available on request).
Coconut Bay Resort was opened in 1993 after the war. It originally started in 1960 before the independence of Mozambique, but was closed during the war, when all the buildings gradually became dilapidated. The resort was refurbished and is now owned and managed by Mozambicans.
