Beach House - Self-Catering Accommodation
Beach House offers accommodation in self-catering houses situated on the beachfront in McDougal’s Bay – a holiday resort 3km from Port Nolloth. It offers a wonderful breath of fresh air and beautiful sunsets – contrasting the desert environment of the Richtersveld National Park.
Most of the houses have indoor braai’s (barbeque), so whatever the weather, guests can relax with a sundowner and enjoy the peace and tranquillity. An offshore barrier reef creates a safe environment for swimming, crayfishing, canoeing and many other water activities.
McDougal’s Bay is situated along the diamond coast and up until 1984 had prospecting mining rights. In the olden days, tourists erected shacks for accommodation on the seaside with a 99 year lease arrangement. There was no electricity and water was pumped from the ground. The water still flows from this spring today and a natural pond can be seen close to the Beach House.
One of the most significant natural attractions of the area is the Fenestraria Succulent Barlow’s Hark, which is a local bird specie.
